In the moment.

A little girl today in my dance class was really sad, her eyes were puffy from crying and she spoke so timidly. I asked her what was wrong and she responded saying that she missed her daddy. She misses him because he was in jail. I leaned close to her and told her we had something in common because my mom was in jail. Sympathy rose in her eyes. I told her we had to stay strong, and happy. I told her we had to make our own happiness and she agreed. She’s 6 and had such pain in her eyes…. It broke my heart… A 6 year old shouldn’t have any worries, she should be able to run around and enjoy life as a kid…. It broke my heart because I know how she feels, That was me when I was her age. We all need to stay strong and create our own happiness.
